Sony
Laptop Inverters.
Double Inverters.
There are some
inverters out there which are almost impossible
to obtain,
for
example
one case we had here at Laptech left us “GOB
SMACKED” at the fact that no matter how hard
we tried to locate this part, even looking all
over the world for it, no one could seem to find
it, or know where to get one. Of course this was
a Sony part and yes, some Sony parts are very hard
to obtain, without going to Sony themselves, and
we all know how hard and expensive that is.
This particular inverter was for
a Sony
PCG-GRT996ZP,
and the part number for this inverter was; Sony
D2026-B001-P1-0,
however this was not necessarily the correct one
because when trying to order it; every supplier
sent the wrong inverter but with the same, or very
similar part number. This left us most frustrated
to say the least.
This inverter was, what we would call, a double
inverter, it is double the thickness of a standard
one and more specifically on the right hand side
it had two connectors for two separate backlight
leads. The reason for this is with the Sony GRT
series, there are three separate inverters for
these laptops, and the one we were after was for
a black onyx screen, which had two separate backlights,
hence why there were two connectors on the inverter,
it powered two backlights. This is not very common
with laptops, even with black onyx screens, and
this is why it was so hard to get hold of one.
In the end we were ready to give up, thinking
that we would never source one, but then we did
manage to locate the correct inverter.
The moral to this story is, like at Laptech, anything
is possible if you just take the time and effort
to look as hard as you possible can.
