The
Importance of Caring
for your Laptop.
When a laptop breaks down most
people are more interested in fixing the problem
as swiftly as possible rather than finding out
what caused the problem in the first place, or
how to prevent it from happening again.
One main cause
is simply heavy usage of the laptop; if you use
the laptop as a main station of work,
or you use it all day every day, there are certain
precautions that you should take when caring for
your laptop. One important piece of advice that
we would give is to give your laptop a regular
break. Even though most systems have sufficient
cooling fans within them to prevent the laptop
from over heating they do still get very hot if
used for a very long period of time, so after a
days work on your system turn it off and leave
it without charging so that it has a chance to
cool down. By doing this the laptops performance
will be enhanced and it can prevent problems with
hardware faults.
Another major example of how to
prevent serious problems with your laptop is by
regularly cleaning
it, however, much care needs to be taken when doing
so. There are specific and professional cleaning
products that you can purchase to maintain your
laptop, these include Air Dust, Screen Cleansing
Wipes, Plastic Cleansing Wipes and Keyboard Cleaning
Sticks.
People may not realise that the cooling
fans inside a laptop are probably the hardest working
piece
of hardware in the machine as it ensures that the
main systemboard temperature is kept low enough
so as not to over heat and short out. But in the
process of this procedure, especially over a long
period of time, a very large amount of dust and
everyday dirt particles that linger in the air,
get sucked in through the smallest crevices of
your laptop. These particles accumulate in and
around the fan area, and after a long period of
time can build up and block the heat sink of the
fan on the main systemboard preventing the fan
to work correctly.
One of the worst cases we have
seen is enough build of dirt in a fan to cover
the whole face
of a teaspoon, if this dirt falls onto the laptop
main board when turned on, it can, and will, short
the systemboard or even damage it to a point where
it is beyond repair, and we all know how expensive
a new system board is, whatever the laptop.
A dry
air spray is a laptop’s best friend,
just by simply blasting specific areas of the laptop
with a dry high pressured air spray can blast away
all unwanted accumulation of dirt or dust that
settles on and around the fan area. This must be
done when the laptop is powered off to make sure
that you don’t make contact with a live connection
or short the systemboard.
