How
to Buy a Laptop.
When looking to buy your first
laptop you need to consider why you want one and
what you need to accomplish with it. ie. why spend
£2500 on a laptop when it will not be your primary
system and it is just to send email and surf the
web.
We have outlined some things you need to ask
yourself.
Price:
When thinking about your purchase, your budget
is the first thing to consider. Laptops are now
very feasible as the prices have been going down
over the last year, however you will still be able
to buy a desktop for around half the money with
a similar spec.
Portability:
The main reason for buying a laptop, but this will
determine the model you choose. If you are on the
move with your laptop you are going to want
one that is as light as possible, a couple of pounds
will make a difference over time but you will still
need to consider other factors in your purchase
of form over function.
Screen size:
Idealy you would
like to have a large screen 17' but they can vary
between 14' and 17' however this will affect your
budget and the overall size of the laptop. In the
long run you may also need to think about the costs
involved in replacing or repairing your screen.
The complexity of a screens materials could mean
a costly
bill.

Speed and Power:
Latop manufacturers have invested
alot in increasing the speed of a laptop, whilst
Intels
mobile
technology and AMD's
mobile technology have reduced the amount
of power being used and can increase its battery
life they will cost you on speed.
Expandability -
memory:
Most laptops in the market already give you
the maximum memory possible, this is because the
size of the laptop. Maunfacturers will try to build
as
much function into the motherboard, leaving little
room for expansion, a larger higher end model will
allow for more expandability. We would recommend
you go for the heighest memory spec possible, this
will lead to less complications and expense if you
wish to upgrade at a later date.
